Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Luka, Inc. (“Replika,” “we,” “us,” and/or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our websites at replika.com and its subdomains (including my.replika.com) — as mirrored at replika.ai — (together, the “Website”) or use our mobile applications (the “Apps”). We refer to the Website and Apps together as the “Services.”

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy. If you have any questions, contact us at privacy@replika.com.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website, which allow the website to recognise your browser on later visits. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage (data a website stores in your browser), web beacons and pixels (small elements that report that a page or email was viewed), tracking scripts, and — in mobile apps — software development kits (SDKs) and device advertising identifiers. This Policy calls all of these “cookies.”

Cookies set by us are “first-party cookies.” Cookies set by our partners are “third-party cookies.”

2. What cookies do we use, and why?

We group cookies into three categories:

a. Strictly necessary. Required to provide the Services: signing you in, keeping your session secure, remembering essential choices (including your cookie choices themselves), fraud prevention, and load balancing. These do not require consent and cannot be switched off, though you can block them in your browser (parts of the Services may then not work).

b. Functionality. Remember non-essential preferences (for example language) to improve your experience. Used only where permitted — with your consent where the law requires it.

c. Advertising. Set by our advertising partners to measure our advertising campaigns and to show you and people like you advertisements for Replika on other platforms. Our advertising and ad-measurement partners are Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google, and AppsFlyer. These cookies and similar technologies collect information such as the pages you visit and links you click on our Website, sign-up, checkout and purchase events, your IP address, advertising and cookie identifiers, and browser type. Some of the same information — for example, a completed purchase — is also sent to these partners directly from our servers, under the same consent and opt-out choices described below. The full list of what we share with advertising partners, and what applies in your region, is in Section 3.D of our Privacy Policy. They never collect the content of your conversations with your Replika, or any photos or other content you submit through the Apps.

A note on analytics. We analyze how the Services are used through events our own servers observe, tied to your account — not through analytics cookies or SDKs that store identifiers on your device. That server-side analytics is described in our Privacy Policy (Section 2.A), runs on our legitimate interests, and comes with a right to object, which you can exercise via “Your Privacy Choices.”

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Brazil, Switzerland, and other opt-in regions. Advertising and functionality cookies are set only if you consent through the banner shown on your first visit, and nothing about you is sent to advertising partners from our servers unless you consent. “Reject” is as easy as “Accept,” and rejecting never affects your ability to use the Services. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the cookie/privacy settings link in the Website footer (or “Your Privacy Choices” in the Apps) — withdrawal takes effect immediately for future data collection.

United States. We do not ask for opt-in consent; instead, advertising cookies operate unless you opt out. Our disclosure of information to advertising partners may be a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under state privacy laws. You can opt out at any time via “Your Privacy Choices” in the Website footer and in the Apps’ settings. We also honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out for that browser and, where we can associate it with your account, for your account. We do not respond to “Do Not Track” signals, which have no settled meaning; GPC is the signal we honour.

Everywhere else. We apply the opt-out model, and honour the choices above wherever you use them.

Consent records. Your choices are recorded through our consent-management platform so that we can prove and honour them; consent records are retained as described in the Privacy Policy (Section 6). Your choice is remembered per browser and, once you have an account, is synchronized to your account so the Apps and Website respect one single choice.

4. Mobile apps

The Apps do not use any advertising SDK for advertising or measurement, or read your device’s advertising identifier, without the consent described above (in opt-in regions) and, on iOS, your separate permission under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency — except for a single request to retrieve the sign-in link you used, which is strictly necessary to sign you in. If you decline App Tracking Transparency, we do not use your device identifiers for advertising or attribution. Our mobile measurement partner AppsFlyer passes app install and purchase results on to Meta and Google so we can measure our app advertising. You can change your choices at any time in the Apps under Settings → Your Privacy Choices, and in your device settings.

5. Other ways to control tracking

These mechanisms are per browser and per device, so repeat them on each browser and device you use.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of material changes before they take effect by posting the updated Policy here and providing a more prominent on-site or email notice. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
